Helensburgh and West Dunbartonshire Ramblers

Welcome to Helensburgh and West Dunbartonshire Ramblers

We are a friendly walking group for people of all ages who enjoy walking in the countryside with others who share their enthusiasm. A photograph from our most recent walk is shown below. To view a selection of photographs from earlier walks click here

Our walk last week started and finished at the Castle Semple Country park Visitors’ Centre

(Click here for details of the walk)

We are the local group of the Ramblers' Association. An organisation set up to promote walking, protect rights of way, campaign for access to open country and defend the beauty of the countryside in England, Scotland and Wales.

We arrange a walks programme suitable for people with different levels of experience and fitness, from hiking up Munros to a comfortable stroll. All our walks are graded based on length, severity of any climbing and difficulty. They are led by one of our volunteer walk leaders.

Walks are arranged for most weekends with occasional mid-week walks. We aim to provide an easier walk most weekends and a more challenging walk at least every month.

Although our leaders are experienced walkers the rest of the group have varying abilities and experience so don’t be put off by lack of stamina or experience. If you have any doubts about a walk speak to the leader before the walk and they will offer advice about the exact nature of the walk.

Anyone is welcome to join us on any of our walks (see separate section for restrictions if accompanied by either children or dogs). To join your first walk simply contact the walk leader, come along and see what you think of us. If you enjoy walking with us and intend to walk regularly, we will expect you to join the Ramblers' Association after about three walks.

If you think you might enjoy walking with us, please have a look at the other pages on this website and come out with us on one of our walks.

Please read our “Useful Information” page before coming on your first walk.
