Crossing the Glen Striddle Burn at the Ram’s Head Bridge
The Ram's Head Bridge, also known as the Tupp Bridge, is a stone bridge with the inscription "Wm Johns Built this Bridge 1777". The bridge features a sculpted sheep's head, believed to commemorate the introduction of black-faced sheep at the nearby Glenmallochan farm. Glen Luss was one of the first of the Highland glens to be cleared after the defeat of the Jacobites in 1745, with the people forced off the land and replaced by the Linton breed of black-faced sheep.
As we ascended Mid Hill, the view of the southern end of Loch Lomond was revealed
A thin mist enveloped us during our traverse from Mid Hill to Beinn Dubh
We arrived at the summit cairn of Beinn Dubh as the mist cleared
