Our walk started along the beach towards Cardross
After leaving the shore and passing Cardross we arrived at the much-graffitied, derelict, St. Peter’s Seminary
Designed by the firm of Gillespie, Kidd & Coia, and built in the early 1960s, it has been described as a modern "building of world significance". It is one of only 42 post-war buildings in Scotland to be listed at Category A, the highest level of protection for a building of "special architectural or historic interest". Not everyone shares this opinion and some have described it as “looking like a car park”.
We left the seminary behind and climbed towards the Iron Age hillfort on Millburn Muir
Identified as a hillfort by aerial photography in 1954 very little evidence remains although some large boulders are believed to have been part of the perimeter wall
We had a brief stop at the cairn above the hillfort before continuing to Bromley Muir
The triangulation pillar on Bromley Muir from which there is an extensive view over Loch Lomond to Ben Lomond
Leaving Bromley Muir and heading to Blackthird Farm
At the end of our walk and approaching Ardmore we passed this tranquil field of horses
