Our morning tea break was taken overlooking Lochan a’ Ghleannain
We were able to enjoy wonderful views across the lochan due to excellent weather

After our break we climbed gradually and were rewarded with views down Loch Ard to Kinlochard
We made a slight detour to view the Couligarton Aqueduct
This aqueduct was constructed in 1855 as part of the original Victorian engineering project to supply Glasgow with water from Loch Katrine

Fallen trees made the short detour to see the ruins of the Duke of Murdoch’s Castle slightly challenging
Murdoch’s Castle situated on a small islet, Dundochill, just off shore.
Called Murdoch’s castle, as it is claimed that Murdoch, Duke of Albany, uncle of James 1 of Scotland, or possibly one of his ancestors of the same name built the castle in the 14th century. Until about 1903, the castle stood to a considerable height above the rocky islet on which it is situated, but collapsed during a storm.
