We followed a pleasant grassy track, part of The Pennine Way, from Hardraw at the start of our climb of Great Shunner Fell.

The path was well maintained and most of the boggy sections were easy to cross.

Once clear of the boggy section our track continued towards the summit of Great Shunner Fell.

There is a large stone shelter on the summit of Great Shunner Fell.

Three very happy walkers at the summit shelter on Great Shunner Fell.

Sadly, England does not enjoy the access rights we take for granted in Scotland, and this diversion added an extra 1 km of road walking to the walk.

After a short descent, and before reaching the road, we had a pleasant walk alongside Fossdale Gill.
